Motherhood is so complex. There is no handbook. Some are called to it. Others fall into it. Some wish for it more than anything, and yet it eludes them. Some come to it through marriage or mentoring. Not everyone is meant to be a mother. Nor do all want to be a mother. Some choose it. Some regret it. Some soar and find themselves lost when their children fly away. It’s biological, psychological, physiological, and yes, even at times diabolical. In that, it’s devilishly hard to know if you are doing it right. Mistakes will be made, and somewhere along the way, for many in first-world countries, therapists will be paid. What’s undeniable is no matter what the circumstances, if you are fortunate enough to have been showered with a mother’s love, no matter how you came by your mother (s), you are indeed blessed. So send up your thanks to the ones who raised you and to the ones who raised them. Good mothering is a chain reaction that can change nations.
